Reinhard Lange to take over as Chief Executive Officer on January 1, 2009

Reinhard Lange, who was appointed as the successor to CEO Klaus Herms by the Board of Directors of Kuehne + Nagel International AG in September 2007, will take up his new function on January 1, 2009.

“The changeover at the top of the Management Board has been prepared diligently. Therefore the Board of Directors, in agreement with the Management Board, has taken the decision to assign Reinhard Lange full responsibility for the implementation of the Group’s strategy as of the beginning of 2009. This decision ensures continuity in the company’s management and its strategic orientation, which is crucial in view of the challenging market environment,” said Klaus-Michael Kuehne, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuehne + Nagel International AG. “Klaus Herms remains Chief Executive Officer until the end of 2008 and will thereafter support the company with his comprehensive knowledge in a consultancy role.”

Reinhard Lange started his international career with Kuehne + Nagel in 1971 in Bremen, Germany. In 1985 he accepted a new challenge in Hong Kong, where he successfully developed the seafreight business in Asia-Pacific as a member of the regional management team. He returned to Germany in 1991 as a member of the national management board, where he was responsible for seafreight. Before being appointed to the Kuehne + Nagel International AG Management Board in charge of the business unit Sea & Air Logistics, Reinhard Lange was Managing Director of the Kuehne + Nagel organisation in Canada from 1995 to 1999. He has been acting as Deputy CEO since autumn 2007.
