Why a good talk with your manager matters: Beau’s career step

Beau started his job as Field Sales Manager at Kuehne + Nagel two and a half years ago. At his previous employer, there was no yearly evaluation of one’s targets and ambitions. In Kuehne + Nagel, on the other hand, a new calendar year traditionally starts with a "Performance and Potential" review. Now, Beau realises how valuable these moments of reflection are, adding that without them he might not be in the position he holds today.

“These yearly talks with your manager are a good way to reflect on things that you otherwise don’t make time for. Even if you have a lot of contact with your manager about the daily work, you rarely spontaneously start reflecting upon your ambitions. If your management isn’t aware of what you want, how can they help you to get there?”

And that’s where our "Performance and Potential Review" comes in! In January 2019, Beau started his new position as Route Development Manager for Asia Pacific. This new function, which will allow Beau to travel abroad, was a result of a conversation with our Sales Director Harsha.

“In the Performance and Potential Review you talk with your manager about the company’s expectations for you, as well as your expectations for the company. It has always been one of my dreams to travel for work, so I got the chance to go on a business trip to China and Taiwan to see if this function would suit me.”

And indeed it did!
