Textile logistics for fashion retailer Schild
Thomas Herbert, Head of Sales & Management Services at Schild AG, “In the course of repositioning Schild in the Swiss market last year we decided to outsource our supply chain processes. Thanks to the partnership with Kuehne + Nagel we are able to fully concentrate on our core business while our logistics provider cost-efficiently ensures the availability of the goods in our shops.”
With every order placed by Schild’s purchasing department, all relevant logistics data is transmitted via interface to Kuehne + Nagel’s tracking, order and supplier management system, KNLogin. Kuehne + Nagel’s specialists check the availability with the respective suppliers in good time and manage the collection and optimal consolidation of the goods; Schild is immediately informed about any deviations in availability dates or quantities.
Upon delivery at Kuehne + Nagel’s textile logistics centre in Münchenstein, Switzerland, goods are quality-checked at piece level and recorded in Schild’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel provides garment finishing services such as labelling, putting clothing on hangers, and reconditioning in the steam tunnel. Schild outlets are supplied with the hanging or flat packed garments several times a week. The textile logistics centre also serves as an interim storage facility to absorb fluctuations in customer demand. Returns management is handled by Kuehne + Nagel as well.
Manfred Schellhammer, Managing Director of the Swiss Kuehne + Nagel organisation, commented, “We are proud to be working with Schild on this long-term basis. The agreement underlines the high degree of trust that Schild places in our textile logistics capabilities. Not least thanks to our dedicated facility in Münchenstein are we able to offer the industry comprehensive and high quality services.”
