Schindler and Kuehne + Nagel extend partnership

Schindler Group, one of the world’s leading escalator and elevator companies, has selected Kuehne + Nagel in China as one of its strategic logistics providers. The new five-year agreement significantly extends the scope and depth of the existing business relationship between the two companies.

Kuehne + Nagel has been providing international end-to-end sea and airfreight transport for Schindler from production facilities in Europe and China to destinations throughout the Asia Pacific region since 2003.

In the scope of the new contract, Kuehne + Nagel now additionally provides sophisticated logistics services for Schindler’s suppliers and factories, including customs brokerage, warehousing and distribution. The logistics provider ensures that consignments from different sources are optimally coordinated and consolidated for efficient just-in-time delivery to identified destinations. In addition to the Asia Pacific region, this logistics support for Schindler is now extended to projects in the Middle East, Africa, the Americas and Russia.

“Operating in the competitive escalator and elevator market, our mission is to offer the best possible values for our customers. The strategic partnership with Kuehne + Nagel enables us to optimise our operational processes, increase cost-efficiency and improve customer satisfaction,” comments Jörg Mächler, Executive Vice President – Asia Pacific Supply Chain at Schindler. “Through its advanced track and trace system KN Login, Kuehne + Nagel has provided us with a tailor-made platform for monitoring the large volume of product flow along our supply chain.”

Elevator and escalator equipment is often bulky and technically sensitive, requiring extensive industrial sector expertise on the part of the logistics provider as well as a high degree of flexibility in view of the changing installation sites and transport requirements.

“The five-year contract underlines the trust Schindler places in our company and services as well as confirming the benefits integrated and industry-specific logistics services and competencies can generate for a global company such as Schindler,” said Andy Weber, Managing Director of Kuehne & Nagel (Asia Pacific) Management Ltd.
