Rail subsidiary Ferroviasped integrated into Kuehne + Nagel organisation

In order to strengthen the offering of intermodal solutions and to fully exploit potential synergies, the rail activities of Ferroviasped Holding AG have been integrated as business field Railfreight into the organisational structure of the Kuehne + Nagel Group.

With around 200 employees at over 30 locations, Ferroviasped – a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuehne + Nagel for four years – is one of the leading rail forwarders in Europe. The company works together with both traditional state-owned railways as well as private railway companies. Complementary to rail transportation, warehousing and distribution activities are fundamental elements of its service portfolio.

The Kuehne + Nagel management’s decision to fully integrate the rail business into the Group was made in view of the strategic focus to expand European overland operations.
By simplifying the coordination of rail and road capacities, the organisation can generate synergies and deliver cost-efficient transportation alternatives (road, intermodal, rail) to customers, which, in light of the growing traffic flows between western and eastern Europe, is gaining in importance.

“The integration of the Ferroviasped Group ensures the consistent development of the rail business in close cooperation with the other business fields of the Kuehne + Nagel Group”, said Klaus Herms, CEO of Kuehne + Nagel International AG. “It allows us to exploit new market potential and expand our offering of innovative traffic and logistics concepts.”
