Effective 1 April 2008, Kuehne + Nagel has appointed Rainer Gödde (41) to take over responsibility for its Europe-wide rail business. Based in Schindellegi/Switzerland, he will report to Xavier Urbain, head of the Rail & Road Logistics business unit and member of the Management Board.

Rainer Gödde is currently heading the International Rail Management division of Railion Deutschland AG. After his apprenticeship as a bank clerk, he studied business administration at the Universities of Passau, Barcelona and Münster. At Deutsche Bahn AG, he then took on various significant functions in the fields of German and European rail cargo traffic.

With the appointment of Rainer Gödde, Kuehne + Nagel is underlining its objective of expanding European rail activities. Klaus Herms, CEO of the Kuehne + Nagel Group, said, "We are convinced that Mr Gödde will bring momentum to the dynamic further development of our rail business."
