“Planet Award of Partner Excellence” goes to Kühne + Nagel

Lufthansa Cargo has again hosted an outstanding event for its top forwarding industry customers. At the 2006 Global Partner Council held recently in Lisbon, the new members of the Lufthansa Cargo Executive Board and the freshly appointed area managers introduced themselves to top-ranking representatives of the airline’s Global Partnership programme. The customers were also acquainted with the new organisational structure and changes resulting from the reorganization of the carrier’s key account management activities.

During the event Lufthansa Cargo presented its “Planet Award of Partner Excellence” for the fourth time in succession. This year the winner was Kühne + Nagel. “We are delighted to receive this award, which underscores our excellent, longstanding partnership with Lufthansa Cargo. Together we can offer our customers innovative and highly efficient airfreight solutions,” said Reinhard Lange, Chief Operating OfficerSea& Air Logistics at Kühne + Nagel.

Lufthansa Cargo’s main criteria for choosing the winner – besides good sales figures – were profitability, professionalism and business loyalty. “For many years now we have enjoyed a really excellent relationship with Kühne + Nagel based on trust and cooperation,” said Dr. Andreas Otto, member of the Lufthansa Executive Board responsible for Marketing and Sales and host of the 2006 Global Partner Council.

The Global Partner Council is a top-level meeting of senior executives of Lufthansa Cargo and its eleven Global Partners. Besides Kühne + Nagel, they are ABX Logistics, Eagle Global Logistics, DHL Global Forwarding, Geologistics, Hellmann, Nippon Express, Panalpina, Schenker, UPS and UTi. The aim of the partnership is to offer the forwarding industry joint logistics solutions and to generate above-average growth, particularly in expanding markets.

“By hosting the Global Partner Council we aim to prove once again that we are prepared to go the extra mile for our customers. The positive feedback we have received from our Global Partners shows that this event is highly valued – and that we are on the right track with our partnership strategy,” Dr. Otto said.
