OnRoad in Sweden

The new Swedish transport network OnRoad, formed under the initiative of Kuehne + Nagel AB, has recently gone into operation. The alliance combines the expertise of nine of the country’s leading regional road haulage companies with Kuehne + Nagel’s nationwide logistics and forwarding services.

Connected by an IT platform that facilitates optimal transport planning, enhanced delivery reliability and online monitoring for every shipment and destination, the 10 companies operating under the OnRoad brand offer scheduled overnight services for single packages as well as groupage and dedicated full load traffic. Services also include storage and warehousing.

National and international customers with domestic distribution requirements can make bookings at their local OnRoad member terminal or at one of the 19 OnRoad hubs, from Skåne in the very south of Swedento Kiruna in the north.

“The need for domestic distribution in Sweden has increased greatly over the last years, also due to the globalisation and establishment of regional warehouses by our multinational customers,” comments Ulf Sundberg, Managing Director of Kuehne + Nagel Sweden and a driving force behind OnRoad. “Our customers now have access to a cost-effective nationwide distribution network. Since going into full operation on November 1st, we have seen very good response from both small and large customers to this new overland network.”

OnRoad has no expensive overheads and profits are directly reinvested in the network. This, in combination with the local know-how and reliability of the strongest regional hauliers across Sweden, ensures highly flexible and efficient domestic transport solutions.
