Ongoing expansion of services and network

Kuehne + Nagel China has incorporated road logistics into its integrated range of services and is steadily expanding its office network.

Responding to growing market demand for quality domestic services, Kuehne + Nagel launched its first long-haul shuttle between Shanghai and Tianjin in April 2011, a 1,200-km route with scheduled departures from both locations three times a week. In August, the company started a second connection, running three times a week between Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The services are offered using Kuehne + Nagel’s own hub and spoke network. They feature door-to-door services, direct pick-ups and deliveries, guaranteed departures, reliable lead times, and POD (proof of delivery) management. Depending on specific customer requirements, Kuehne + Nagel also provides a variety of ad-hoc features and value-added services, such as pick and pack operations, labeling and consolidation as well as cargo insurance. Thanks to GPS technology, customers have full visibility along the entire supply chain.  By the end of 2011, eight depots will be established at the strategic locations in Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Beijing, Xiamen, Chengdu and Wuhan, enabling Kuehne + Nagel to offer a total of 20 links.

Network expansion on track
Kuehne + Nagel is steadily extending its office network in China. Recently, new branches were opened in Fuzhou, Wuxi, Zhengzhou, Taicang, Yangzhou and Yinchuan. Until the end of this year, the company plans to increase its footprint to 36 cities with the establishment of four more new offices, mainly in the central and western provinces of the country. Further network extensions are scheduled for 2012.

In all areas of the country, Kuehne + Nagel provides a comprehensive portfolio of services, including international sea and air logistics, contract logistics, industry-specific solutions, road logistics and distribution services. “The expansion is in line with our growth strategy and ‘Go-West’ market approach in China”, commented Andy Weber, President of Kuehne + Nagel (Asia Pacific) Management Pte. Ltd. “With the additional road logistics services, customers can benefit from a truly high-value integrated logistics package from Kuehne + Nagel as their single-source provider,” he added.
