In the presence of numerous customers and business partners, the Lord Mayor of Nuremberg, Dr. Ulrich Maly, and the majority shareholder and Honorary Chairman of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, Klaus-Michael Kuehne, officially opened the new logistics centre today.

Kuehne + Nagel has been present in Nuremberg for over five  decades and currently employs over 300 staff members in the metropolitan region. At bayernhafen a state-of-the-art logistics centre, designed to support dynamic business development, has now been brought into service. The facility includes circa 30.000 m2 of transhipment and logistics areas, as well as 60 loading bays to guarantee the fast and smooth processing of in- and outbound goods.  It complies with the latest environmental and security standards and is equipped with highly adaptable technology. The freight forwarding and administrative functions of the Kuehne + Nagel branch Nuremberg are also established at the new site.

Kuehne + Nagel offers value creating services to nationally and internationally operating customers. Renowned companies from various industries count among the longstanding customers that benefit from industry-specific expertise, comprehensive value-added services and innovative distribution concepts. The new terminal is an important base in the global network for facilitating modern supply chain solutions, emphasised CEO Detlef Trefzger in his speech.

“We are pleased by the positive business development of Kuehne + Nagel in Nuremberg”, said Klaus-Michael Kuehne at the opening ceremony. “Based on the promising beginnings of the national and international freight forwarding business 51years ago, we continuously extended our service portfolio and adjusted our services to the current market needs. With the extension of our capacities in Nuremberg we underline not only the importance of this location in our comprehensive network, but also strengthen the metropolitan region with efficient logistics.”

Lord Mayor Dr. Ulrich Maly added: “Logistics is an economic core function in the city and the metropolitan area of Nuremberg. I am therefore delighted, that Kuehne + Nagel confirms its commitment to Nuremberg as a logistics centre with its new facility at the port and strengthens the city as an international logistics hub.”
