Music for Mozambique

Pianos, violins, clarinets and guitars will play again thanks to a start-up of Mozambican technicians supported by Music Fund and Milano Musica in Italy. Over 200 musical instruments and audio-lighting equipment departed from Genoa to Maputo, Mozambique, and were recently distributed to the technicians. Kuehne + Nagel is proud to be part of this initiative, providing logistics expertise and services.

The shipment of musical instruments was destined to the young technicians gathered in the "Associação Moçambicana de Reparadores de Instrumentos Musicais e Técnicos de Som" (AMORIMTS). Thanks to the generous donations of Classica Musica, Mogar Music - Gruppo Monzino and many private individuals 12 pianos, dozens of string instruments, winds, percussions, acoustic and electric guitars as well as audio-light equipment could be collected by Music Fund and Milano Musica. The shipment was carried out in logistic partnership with Kuehne + Nagel Italy.

The donation supports the vital musical activities in Mozambique: second-hand musical instruments find new life in a country where musical life is experiencing great momentum, with educational activities and newly-founded choruses and orchestras. Further, the project aims to expand the employment opportunities for locals, progressively diversifying the interventions at the center of the country and equipping the technicians, trained with the support of Music Fund and Milano Musica, with the necessary means to continue their activity independently and to develop further the professional skills acquired.
