Managing global information technology

Kuehne + Nagel announces the appointment of Martin Kolbe (44) as Chief Information Officer and member of the Management Board of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, effective November 1, 2005. He succeeds Thomas Engel, who will be leaving the company.

Martin Kolbe has profound expertise in the field of software development and the management of complex international IT projects, particularly in connection with the implementation of standardised software systems and establishing centralised networks. Prior to this appointment, he was business unit CIO with a global logistics group.

“Sophisticated information logistics is a decisive competitive advantage in the management of complex supply chain processes,” said Klaus Herms, Chief Executive Officer of Kuehne + Nagel International AG. “With the appointment of Martin Kolbe, a highly experienced manager is assuming responsibility for the IT strategy of our company as well as the further development of innovative IT services as an integral part of our logistics offering to customers.”

Amongst his responsibilities, Martin Kolbe will head the Kuehne + Nagel Group’s global information technology competence centre in Hamburg.
