Magna selects Kuehne + Nagel to manage its inbound logistics to Russia

Magna Exteriors & Interiors, a leading full service supplier of exterior vehicle appearance systems to the global automotive industry, is outsourcing the entire inbound logistics for its production site in Kaluga as well as parts of its outbound transports to Kuehne + Nagel.

On behalf of Magna Exteriors & Interiors, a subsidiary of Magna International, Kuehne + Nagel will coordinate and transport shipments from all European suppliers to a consolidation centre in Chemnitz, Germany. From here, Kuehne + Nagel will manage the entire just-in-sequence delivery to the Kaluga production site. In addition to warehouse management and parts consolidation in line with the production process, Kuehne + Nagel’s services also include export handling as well as daily overland transportation from Chemnitz to Kaluga.

“Having worked for Magna already for more than sixteen years, we are very familiar with the customer’s logistics requirements,” said Martin Weidemann, Kuehne + Nagel’s Senior Vice President Road & Rail Logistics for Eastern Europe. “In close cooperation with Magna’s logistics department, we continuously investigate possibilities for further optimisation of their supply chain.”

“The Russian market is one of Magna Europe’s strategic targets. Leveraging Kuehne + Nagel’s many years of industry know-how, we see a potential in the further cooperation,” commented Joerg Blechinger, Logistics Manager for Magna Europe, on the extension of the partnership with Kuehne + Nagel.
