Kuehne+Nagel fully charged to support the all-electric World Rallycross Championship in Hong Kong

  • Kuehne+Nagel handles the logistics for the all-electric FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX)
  • Combination of expertise in Expo and Event logistics and automotive logistics, for a successful execution.

Like everyone, motorsports has to chip in in the race against climate change. That's why FIA’s World Rallycross Championship (World RX) shifted gear and went fully electric in 2023. And that's not their only 'first' for the books: the series also makes a pioneering entry in Asia Pacific with its upcoming race in Hong Kong on November 11 and 12.

We don't know what is more thrilling: the squealing tyres and science-fiction-like humming of the rallycross cars, or… the logistics behind such an event.

After all, the latter is also a race against time. That is why World RX entrusted the logistics to the experts: Kuehne+Nagel’s Expo and Event team. “We are honoured to handle the logistics for World RX, so that the organisers and athletes can fully focus on racing and the finale in Hong Kong,” said Julian Blackman, Expo and Event Logistics Manager who leads the project together with Dominik Frank.

Expo and Event meets Automotive Logistics

As we speak, this team is busy getting the event equipment to the racetrack amid Hong Kong’s neon-lit streets (click here to learn more about the event). With Kuehne+Nagel’s global footprint and expertise in freight forwarding and customs clearance, planning the logistics for international events is in its DNA.

The added challenge for World RX is the transportation of the electric cars. To handle that smoothly, Kuehne+Nagel brings in its experts in Automotive and ‘new mobility’ logistics.

“Moving batteries across borders comes with heightened awareness, careful handling and additional administration. This can be challenging in an Events logistics context where timelines can be short, but by combining our expertise and leveraging our global network, we make it work.,” says Joern Schneemann, Global Head of Expo and Event Logistics at Kuehne+Nagel.

“As World RX ventures into new territories, having a trusted and proven logistics partner is integral to our global strategy. Kuehne+Nagel understands and shares our vision and is committed to delivering our equipment around the globe in a sustainably responsible framework. We look forward to growing and developing our relationship going forward,” adds Arne Dirks, Managing Director of Rallycross Promoter GmbH.

That said, good luck to the athletes in the season finale!
