Kuehne+Nagel expands healthcare footprint in North America

In the last decade, the healthcare market in the U.S. has grown, and continues to grow, driven by technological advancements, changing demographics and healthcare investments, particularly in a post-pandemic environment. According to research, the medical device market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 5.8% from 2024 to 2030 and within the pharmaceuticals, market demand continues to drive impressive growth. 

To support the increasing demand for healthcare logistics, Kuehne+Nagel is continuously enhancing its solutions for healthcare customers. In North America, Kuehne+Nagel has been strategically expanding its footprint to serve customers in the pharmaceuticals, medical devices and other healthcare consumer product markets. 

“After listening carefully to our customers and recognizing the importance of creating resilient logistics solutions, we are expanding our contract logistics healthcare network to better meet our customers’ needs across North America. We have the expertise and network to help healthcare companies address the existing challenges posed by drug production, distribution, and supply chain management -- ensuring timely and safe delivery of healthcare products while maintaining compliance with regulations and quality standards,” said Razuck.

Highlights of recent and soon-to-be open sites, include: 

  • Conversion of a 160,000 sq. ft. site into multi-client healthcare fulfillment center in Plainfield, Indiana, opened in 2023. 
  • New, 400,000 sq. ft. multi-client healthcare focused fulfillment center at Dallas/Fort-Worth Airport in Texas, opened in 2023. 
  • Conversion of 350,000 sq. ft to pharmaceutical grade, temperature control space of an existing 900,000 sq. ft multi-client fulfillment center, in Southaven, Mississippi; to be completed by Q4, 2024. 
  • The development of a new, dedicated 130,000 sq. ft. fulfillment center for a healthcare customer in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; to be completed late-2025. 
  • The takeover of an existing, 250,000 sq. ft. fulfillment facility near Toronto, Ontario, Canada for a medical device company; site went live May 2024, making this the tenth healthcare site in Canada. 
  • Conversion of 140,000 sq. ft. into a pharmaceutical-grade space near Mexico City at our Master Distribution Center, including ISO Class 9 room and automation for medical device and pharmaceutical distribution.
