Kuehne + Nagel to manage national warehousing for Hella’s Aftermarket Division in China

Hella, a world-leading automotive supplier of components and systems for lighting and electronics and one of the world's largest companies selling automotive parts and accessories, has selected Kuehne + Nagel to manage its Chinese Aftermarket Division’s national warehousing activities. The agreement builds on the existing relationship between the two companies in Asia, where Kuehne + Nagel already operates the manufacturer’s regional distribution centre in Singapore.

In the scope of the new agreement, the services Kuehne + Nagel provides at Hella’s Shanghai factory encompass warehouse management, handling of all overseas and domestic inbound shipments, pick and pack operations as well as a series of value-added services, including quality control of individual items, relabeling and repacking. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel works closely with Hella in managing returned goods cases.

“With Kuehne + Nagel we have found a good partner who supports our ambitious growth plans and helps us to increase our competitive advantage,” said Frank Sun, General Manager of Hella Trading (Shanghai) Ltd.

The dynamic development of the automotive market in Chinaand the product-specific nature of lighting components require a high degree of flexibility and industry know-how on the part of the logistics provider. Thanks to its quality management processes and globally standardised systems, Kuehne + Nagel has already been able to reduce turn-around times of material availability for time-sensitive deliveries. Inventory and picking accuracies have also been improved, resulting in higher customer satisfaction.

“We are pleased to be deepening our business relationship with Hella. The new contract confirms that we are able to leverage our logistics capabilities, state-of-the-art information systems and infrastructure to the benefit of the customer’s industry-specific requirements,” said Andy Weber, Managing Director of Kuehne & Nagel (Asia Pacific) Management Ltd.
