Kuehne + Nagel to manage distribution centre for Robert Bosch in Poland

German company Robert Bosch GmbH, a manufacturer of industrial technology, consumer goods and building technology, has contracted Kuehne + Nagel for the operational design and management of a distribution centre in Wroclaw, Poland. The new facility will go into operation in late summer 2006.

The centre will feature 11,000 sqm of warehouse space and serve as a hub for the storage and distribution of Robert Bosch automotive aftermarket and thermo technology products as well as power tools to customers in Poland and the Czech / Slovak Republics.

Ideally located in the ProLogis Park 15 km south west of Wroclaw, close to the city’s airport and on the E35 (Wroclaw-Prague) motorway near the A4 (Berlin-Wroclaw-Krakow-Ukraine) and E261 (Poznan-Wroclaw-Vienna) junction, the facility will allow Robert Bosch to offer customers in the region tailored delivery services.

The new distribution centre will cater to the optimal management of inbound and outbound transport costs and generate synergies by consolidating countries and divisions at the facility, which will help reinforce Robert Bosch’s competitive market reach in the respective countries.

Robert Bosch GmbH will consolidate the supply of more than 25,000 items at the warehouse, where Kuehne + Nagel will implement a comprehensive logistics solution encompassing goods receiving (unloading, goods check, import responsibilities), storage, picking and packing, JIT order preparation and delivery to end customers.

Stanislaw Lukowicz, Managing Director of Kuehne + Nagel Sp. z o. o., “We are proud that such a long-standing and truly global company as Robert Bosch has selected Kuehne + Nagel for an outsourcing project of this kind. This is testimony to our national organisation’s logistics capabilities, both in terms of warehouse operations design and management.”
