Kuehne + Nagel to continue wine logistics for British Airways

British Airways has renewed its contract with Kuehne + Nagel for the transport of wine sourced for its in-flight catering services. The agreement covers imports of goods under bond to the UK from Europe, South Africa, Australasia and the west coast of the USA.

Peter Hough, British Airways’ General Manager, Cabin Logistics said: “The range of services that Kuehne + Nagel offers, combined with their collaborative approach and our joint attention to detail means that we have experienced less stock problems than ever before. In particular KN Login, the IT system which allows complete visibility of our inventory throughout the supply chain, has been an invaluable tool.”

In addition to UK imports, Kuehne + Nagel currently looks after regional distribution direct to British Airways’ African caterers from South Africa, as well as to caterers in the Far East, who are supplied directly from Australia. Under the terms of the contract renewal, Kuehne + Nagel will now also handle the transport of fruit juices from Australasia to worldwide destinations for in-flight catering.

Peter Ulber, Chief Executive of Kuehne + Nagel North West Europe, commented: “I am very pleased to announce that Kuehne + Nagel and British Airways will continue working together. We enjoy a mutually productive relationship and together we are dedicated to ensuring that British Airways’ customers have guaranteed availability of the range of fine wines offered on in-flight menus.”
