Kuehne + Nagel to acquire groupage business from F.W. DEUS GmbH & Co. KG

Kuehne + Nagel is continuing the expansion of its overland activities with the takeover of the groupage cargo division from Oldenburg-based forwarder F.W. DEUS GmbH & Co. KG. This move further strengthens Kuehne + Nagel’s road transport operations in Germany.

F.W. DEUS GmbH & Co. KG has been a member of the leading German groupage network IDS since 1982 and guarantees 24/48 hour nationwide door-to-door delivery of groupage consignments. DEUS is selling its groupage division in order to fully focus on its traditional core business, removal and furniture logistics. “With its long-standing tradition since 1857, DEUS will continue to commit itself to the remaining areas of business and expand its activities”, commented Carsten Busch and Raoul Busch, the company’s managing directors.

“The acquisition of DEUS’ overland operations enables us to further enhance our network in Germany as well as the utilisation of IDS infrastructure for German and European groupage services,” said Ewald Kaiser, Managing Director of Kühne + Nagel (AG & Co.) KG. “At the same time, we will be able to increase the efficiency of our distribution activities out of Bremen even more.”

Based on the agreement, all groupage operations and respective 130 specialised employees of F.W. DEUS GmbH & Co. KG will transfer to the independent Kuehne + Nagel subsidiary operating under the name KN DEUS GmbH.

The agreement is subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities. Both parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
