Kuehne + Nagel takes over Gebr. Mönkemöller

With the acquisition of Gebr. Mönkemöller GmbH & Co. KG, Bielefeld, the Kuehne + Nagel organisation in Germany takes a further step in expanding its overland activities. The company meanwhile covers nine franchisee areas of the German groupage network IDS and with a 27 per cent share in shipments is its largest partner.

Gebr. Mönkemöller GmbH + Co. KG was founded in Bielefeld/Germany in 1915. The well-established, medium-sized company with 360 employees specialises in the groupage business and warehouse logistics. An IDS member since 1997, Gebr. Mönkemöller is market leader for groupage services in the Bielefeld / Ostwestfalen-Lippe region. At facilities in Bielefeld, Halle / Westfalen and Dietzenbach near Frankfurt the company operates more than 30,000 sqm of cross-docking and warehouse space.

“With the takeover of Gebr. Mönkemöller we are adding a capable freight forwarding company to the Kuehne + Nagel network,” commented Ewald Kaiser, Managing Director of Kühne + Nagel (AG & Co.) KG, “and are thereby continuing our successful growth course in overland transportation.”

The agreement is subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities. Both parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
