Kuehne + Nagel selected by Valeo Service as preferred partner for inbound road transportation in Europe

Kuehne + Nagel has been selected by Valeo Service, the aftermarket branch of the global automotive group, for the management and execution of in-bound road logistics shipments from their European suppliers to the Valeo Service’s national distribution platforms located in France, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain and Turkey.

The demanding solution specially tailored by Kuehne + Nagel to the needs of Valeo Service involves the implementation of 43 milk runs for the collection of components from the suppliers and their multi-stop consolidation before they are dispatched to the Valeo Service’s distribution platforms.

The new service will link over 105 internal and external suppliers of Valeo Service located in France, Italy and Spain as well as in seven other West European countries. In total, the network represents 283 point-to-point relations.

The solution is centrally monitored from a Kuehne + Nagel control tower based in Orleans, France, and incorporates a proactive follow-up of the suppliers’ shipments and a continuous optimisation of the milk run network. It is underpinned by Logistar Transport, an IT system developed by Kuehne + Nagel, and an e-booking web application allowing all suppliers to directly enter their transportation orders into the system.

Delivering a customized, robust and flexible logistics solution was the key challenge Kuehne + Nagel has successfully met. Despite a high level of variance in daily shipment flows, Valeo Service now benefits from a regular service with enhanced consolidation capacity, increased collection frequency at each supplier site as well as a guarantee of delivery on scheduled time.

Eric Peigne, Director Road & Rail Logistics Division for Kuehne + Nagel South-West Europe, explains: "The successful implementation of this complex solution to optimize Valeo Service’s inbound transportation flows clearly demonstrates the efficiency of the Kuehne + Nagel approach. Its strength lies in the combination of three pillars: operational excellence on the basis of an integrated European transportation network, proven competencies in implementing central control tower concepts and powerful IT backbone systems ensuring full end-to-end visibility and facilitating collaboration of all partners involved. We are excited to be teaming up with Valeo Service and engaging in a new partnership model with this leading automotive supplier group."
