Kuehne + Nagel Portugal certified to latest environmental and occupational safety standards

Kuehne + Nagel Portugal has successfully obtained ISO 14001 (environmental management) and OHSAS 18001 (occupational safety and health) certification. Together with its compliance to ISO 9001 the company is the first logistics provider in Portugal to meet all three standards.

The two new certificates were awarded in the scope of the Kuehne + Nagel Group’s worldwide recertification audits by the Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI) and cover the national company’s sites and operations in Lisbon and Porto.

“For many years we have been conducting business in observance of the highest standards,” commented Alexander Scheld, Managing Director for Kühne + Nagel Lda. in Portugal. “These certificates confirm our efforts and demonstrate our commitment to quality, to mitigate the impact of our business on the environment, and our sense of responsibility towards employees.”

Focus on environmental management is growing in Portugal, and as an ISO 14001 certified company Kühne + Nagel Lda. also promotes this consciousness among its partners, e.g. by selecting sub-contractors in accordance with their environmental standards or leveraging its transport planning capabilities to minimise empty runs.

The OHSAS 18001 certificate underlines the company’s endeavours towards protecting the health and safety of its employees. Concepts include emergency trainings, fire drills, in-house first aid personnel, personal protection equipment and warehouse operations safety.
