Kuehne + Nagel opens new logistics hub for Airbus in France

Today, Kuehne + Nagel celebrated the official opening of its new aviation logistics hub in Montoir-de-Bretagne in Western France. The facility has been designed to handle the entire production logistics of Airbus’ manufacturing plants at Nantes and Saint-Nazaire.

Since 2008 Kuehne + Nagel acts as exclusive Lead Logistics Provider (LLP) for Airbus in Europe and is providing the entire production logistics services at the aircraft manufacturer’s locations in France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. Currently, the operational set-up is based on six regional hubs with a total of 150,000 sqm and aims at harmonising Airbus’ highly sensitive supply chain by integrating smaller facilities, re-engineering processes and applying lean logistics methods.

The newly opened 18,800 sqm facility in Montoir-de-Bretagne is part of the consolidated hub network. Kuehne + Nagel’s services at this site include ordering, management of inbound flows from suppliers, quality inspections, warehousing of parts, order preparation and delivery of parts to Airbus’ manufacturing units at Saint-Nazaire and Nantes. Kuehne + Nagel is also providing value-added services such as kitting and cut to size and is handling parts inside and between Airbus’ facilities in the area.

“Having worked closely with Airbus for several years, we have achieved a thorough understanding of their business needs. This new hub marks a further step in our partnership, and we are proud to serve as Airbus’ Lead Logistics Provider,” said Patrick Pepin, Managing Director of Kuehne + Nagel France, at the opening event.
