Kuehne + Nagel Named "Seafreight Forwarder of the Year"

At the Asia Logistics Awards Gala Dinner 2005 held in Shanghai, China beginning of November, Kuehne + Nagel was honoured with the “Seafreight Forwarder of the Year” award. For the second time the logistics provider has won this prestigious title, reaffirming its regional leadership in the seafreight sector.

The annual event is organised by the Infoma Group, publisher of Lloyd’s Freight Transport Buyer Asia (FTB Asia). Through votes cast by readers of FTB Asia as well as the Asian readership of Containerization International and International Freighting Weekly, five finalists were shortlisted in each category. An independent panel of judges, comprising leading industry practitioners and scholars, selected the winners in the final stage.

The judging criteria for the “Seafreight Forwarder of the Year” Award are: standard of customer service; relationship with shipping lines; flexibility of service; cost and value for money; size of network; range of value-added services; launch/upgrade of new products and services during the last 12 months.

“We are pleased to gain recognition from the logistics industry once again for conferring us with such an esteemed award,” commented Andy Weber, Managing Director of Kuehne + Nagel (Asia Pacific) Management Ltd. “The accolade represents as much an incentive as an obligation to continually improve the standards of our service. In an increasingly global and challenging business environment, we strive to offer our customers reliable, yet innovative solutions that help optimise their supply chains.”

In the last twelve months, Kuehne + Nagel surpassed the market average with double-digit volume growth in almost all trade lanes, securing its position as a leader in seafreight logistics. The company’s comprehensive range of seafreight products is based on a number of internationally recognised quality principles and guidelines. Visibility, flexibility and reliability are all important factors for Kuehne + Nagel’s growth as the company expands its services to add value for customers. The functionality of information products brought together under the brandname KN Login, Kuehne + Nagel’s advanced tracking and tracing system, has been significantly expanded.

Close partnerships with both well-established and new carriers are an invaluable part of Kuehne + Nagel’s business. Through these close ties, the company is able to guarantee space and equipment, multiple sailings and flexibility on virtually all routes. Kuehne + Nagel’s ability to respond and adapt quickly to growing trade volumes is essential in today’s global marketplace.

The logistics network of Kuehne + Nagel in the Asia Pacific region spans 100 locations across 19 countries. The company’s total workforce amounts to around 4,000 people.
