Kuehne + Nagel manages frozen food for Italian retailer Agorà

Milan based Agorà Network Srl has awarded a six-year contract to Kuehne + Nagel to provide frozen warehousing and distribution operations for the retailer’s stores across northern Italy that include brands such as Iperal, Tigros and Poli.

The new agreement represents an extension of the partnership between Agorà and Kuehne + Nagel. Since 2007, the logistics provider has been supporting the retailer’s supply chain optimisation and managing a 45,000 sqm ambient foods warehouse for Agorà in Brignano Gera d’Adda, east of Milan.

According to the new contract, Kuehne + Nagel is in charge of frozen foods inbound services, storage and order preparation at its 12,000 sqm multi-user, temperature-controlled (-28°C) facility in Casorate Primo (PV). It also encompasses road distribution to serve Agorà’s more than 200 points of sales throughout Northern Italy. The distribution centre will handle approximately 1,600,000 cases a year, with more than 700 references.

To provide highest levels of picking accuracy and productivity, the warehouse operations are supported by the latest radio frequency and voice picking technology. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel’s dedicated team is regularly checking the temperature controlling systems to ensure that all goods are stored at the correct temperature.

”We choose again Kuehne + Nagel as partner due to their long experience in chilled and frozen logistics for retailers and manufacturers,” said Antonio Tirelli, CEO of Agorà Network Srl.

“We are delighted about the extension of our successful cooperation. It is our goal to permanently strive for supply chain optimisation and to support our customers with comprehensive logistics services,” said Ruggero Poli, Managing Director of Kuehne + Nagel Italy.
