Kuehne + Nagel expands its capacities in Salzburg

Kuehne + Nagel has doubled its warehousing capacities in Salzburg/Bergheim. In the presence of numerous customers and business partners, Gabi Burgstaller, Governor of Land Salzburg, and Klaus-Michael Kuehne, Executive Chairman of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, officially inaugurated the substantially enlarged and modernised logistics centre.

Kuehne + Nagel has been operating in Salzburg since 1971. The branch in Bergheim was founded in 1982 with the primary purpose of bundling flows of goods from Western Europe to the Middle East at this important traffic hub. Today, Kuehne + Nagel ranks among the market leaders in the region and employs 80 staff in Salzburg/Bergheim.

By doubling its warehousing space at this dynamic location to 13,300 sqm the company is creating ideal conditions for the extension of its contract logistics operations, which are being developed into the third pillar of business Groupwide alongside strong sea and airfreight operations. National and international customers can take advantage of optimised processes at the highly functional terminal, which was built on a 30,300 sqm plot and features 14,000 pallet positions.

Klaus-Michael Kuehne, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, said during the inauguration ceremony, “Salzburg is of major strategic importance both for the strong local economy and as a logistics hub. In view of our plans to expand activities in Austria and across central Europe, the Salzburg branch plays an integral part.”

Across Austria, Kuehne + Nagel employs more than 400 staff at 11 locations, and its national head office in Vienna is also responsible for managing Kuehne + Nagel’s national companies in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary.inge.lauble@kuehne-nagel.com
