Kuehne + Nagel Earns Sun Microsystems’ 2005 Award for Superior Supply Chain Management Support

Kuehne + Nagel has been honored with a Sun Microsystems, Inc. Meritorious Supply Performance Award for 2005. It is the second time in three years that Kuehne + Nagel has earned the award.

Kuehne + Nagel is the lead integrator of an information-driven solution for the distribution of critical spare parts for Sun systems throughout the United States and Canada. The customer contact center here fields 1,200 calls daily from field engineers requesting parts, then arranges for expedited delivery of the parts from one of 120 stocking locations – often within one hour of receiving the request. Kuehne + Nagel also manages the flow of parts to and from repair vendors. Superior management of parts inventory enables Sun to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction, while controlling inventory investments.

"The Sun Supplier Awards program recognizes key suppliers for their exemplary support as demonstrated through innovation and ability to exceed expectations for value, performance and quality," said Susan Ferguson, Vice President, Partner & Supply Chain Management. "Kuehne + Nagel has contributed significantly to helping Sun Services exceed our customers’ expectations. Sun suppliers are leaders in their fields, the award winners are the best of the best."

Douglas Brown, Kuehne + Nagel Vice President, Critical Service Logistics, said, “Sun systems run mission-critical applications for some of the world’s largest companies. We’re proud of the central role we play in keeping these systems up and running.”
