Kuehne + Nagel chosen by Finpro as official logistics partner for Shanghai World Expo 2010

Kuehne + Nagel has entered into an agreement with Finpro, formerly known as the Finnish Foreign Trade Association, to provide logistics services for Finpro’s exhibition area at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China.

The World Expo, which has been held since the mid-19th century, is an international exhibition of manufactured products. Taking place between May 1 and October 31, World Expo 2010 is expected to be the biggest in the history of world expositions covering over 500 hectares in a central area in Shanghai with the aim of attracting 70 million visitors. Finland’s pavilion “Kirnu”, designed by young entrepreneurs in Finland to share Finnish viewpoints and solutions for a better life in an experiential way, will be the largest in its history, covering around 3,000 square meters.

With air and seafreight shipments already begun, Kuehne + Nagel will be transporting equipment, tools and hospitality material to and from Finland, and coordinating cross-trade shipments between additional countries. Finpro will benefit from Kuehne + Nagel’s Expo Service offering, which provides tailor-made door-to-door transport and sophisticated on-site logistics solutions with highly experienced staff to ensure delivery of goods to tight schedules set by the World Expo, including fixed delivery windows.

Markus Nyman, Managing Director of Kuehne + Nagel Finland, said: “Finpro’s decision to appoint Kuehne + Nagel as their official logistics partner was influenced by our strong market position in air- and seafreight, our commitment to the highest standards of service as well as our sustainability credentials, which were particularly attractive to Finpro.”
