Kuehne + Nagel and Kintetsu World Express (KWE) extend cooperation

Following the encouraging results by joining forces in Latin America, Kuehne + Nagel and KWE have decided to expand the geographical reach and scope of services of the cooperation.

After assuming the book of business of KWE affiliated companies in major Latin American countries in October 2003, Kuehne + Nagel has been acting as KWE’s exclusive handling agent for both sea- and airfreight as well as customs clearance. Sales and marketing activities are handled by KWE representatives, stationed in the region.

In the scope of the extended cooperation, the partners will jointly offer their services in markets of the Middle and Far East. Besides global sea- and airfreight, the service offering will include contract logistics, project transport activities and supply chain management solutions. Furthermore, Kuehne + Nagel will act as KWE’s NVOCC for LCL shipments. Joint capacity planning on key airfreight routes will secure space for increasing customer needs.

Klaus Herms, CEO of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, commented: “In Latin America customers and both partners benefit from the complementary service offering. I am confident that the extension of the cooperation into new markets will be successful, further broaden the customer base and increase business opportunities.“

Henry Tsujimoto, President of Kintesu World Express, added: “For a Japan based transportation company a partnership with a globally operating logistics group like Kuehne + Nagel is of great importance for the future development. We are looking forward to working together and generate synergies to the advantage of all parties involved.“
