Integrated logistics services from a single source

Kuehne + Nagel has put a new logistics centre in Greater Helsinki into operation. Officially inaugurated today, the multifunctional facility allows for the provision of the full scope of contract logistics and forwarding services from a single source.

Kuehne + Nagel has been operating in the Finnish market for 20 years, continually expanding both its service portfolio as well as growing its network to meanwhile eight branch offices.

“In addition to our traditional forwarding business, the new logistics centre in Vantaa enables us to provide warehousing and distribution services, thereby increasing added value for our customers”, said Markus Nyman, CEO of OY Kuehne + Nagel Ltd.

The multifunctional terminal is ideally located in close proximity to Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The facility provides around 6,000 pallet positions and 7,000 sqm of warehouse space. Furthermore, the option to expand by an additional 6,000 sqm will allow to accommodate the growing demand for integrated logistics solutions in the future, too. By bringing together all activities of the Helsinki branch in Vantaa (sea and airfreight, rail and road transportation, project forwarding and contract logistics), synergies can be achieved as well as facilitating fast, efficient process handling.

The new property fully complies with modern security and environmental requirements, and its ecological architecture allowed for the consideration of all aspects of resource conservation.

“The opening of this modern logistics centre is of great significance for the development of Kuehne + Nagel’s Finnish organisation”, said Dirk Reich, Member of the Management Board of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, at the inauguration ceremony. “With the aim of optimising our logistics offering to customers, we have now laid the foundations in this dynamic economic region to provide integrated logistics solutions from a single source. I am convinced that our full service offering in Vantaa, in combination with our global capabilities, will gain high acceptance by many national and international customers.”
