Hobart Added to Kuehne + Nagel’s Australian Network

With the opening of a new office in Hobart, Tasmania in December 2005, Kuehne + Nagel has extended its logistics network in Australia. The strengthened presence creates an ideal platform for the further expansion of the company’s innovative LCL (Less than Container Load) and related logistics activities.

Kuehne + Nagel has been operating in the Australian market since 1971. With around 300 employees at six branches, the company has a strong market position in international forwarding and contract logistics, and ranks among the leading logistics providers in the country.

The new Hobart office is strategically located in the southern most state of Australia. With fast access to the city’s main infrastructure, it possesses vast business advantages for Kuehne + Nagel’s expansion. From the new site, Kuehne + Nagel is offering customers a complete range of services from a single source, including LCL activities.

Aimed at all industries that require time sensitive and cost effective shipping options, Kuehne + Nagel’s LCL services have been particularly well received in the Tasmanian market. By offering dedicated weekly LCL services directly from Hobart, and bypassing the traditional consolidation point in Melbourne, to major ports in Asia, Europe and the United States, importers and exporters in Tasmania can benefit from the substantial reduction in freight costs and transit times, helping to improve their supply chain performance.

“Since its inception 34 years ago, the Australian organization has been providing customers with high-value services. The expansion of our activities in the Tasmanian market represents Kuehne + Nagel’s latest efforts in continually adapting to the ever-changing business environment. Customers can benefit from an enhanced level of services tailored to their specific requirements,” said Jens Pohlmann, Managing Director of Kuehne + Nagel in Australia.
