Delivering moments that matter – Easter and chocolates

The journey behind every Easter chocolate egg

Every spring, children worldwide wake up eager to search for hidden treasures—chocolate eggs tucked into garden corners, colourful candies beneath the couch, and maybe even a chocolate bunny nestled in the grass.

The Easter egg hunt is filled with laughter, excitement, and sweet rewards. For many families, it marks the arrival of spring and brings generations together in celebration.

The season of sweet surprises
Easter is one of the busiest times of the year for the chocolate industry. In the weeks leading up to the holiday, chocolate sales surge into the hundreds of millions, with shelves filling up eggs, bunnies, and treats of all shapes and sizes. Whether given as gifts, shared in egg hunts, or simply enjoyed at home, chocolate is at the heart of the Easter experience.

Behind the scenes, logistics plays a critical role—ensuring that these delicate seasonal treats are delivered in perfect condition, on time and ready to delight.

From Europe to your basket: The chocolate trail
The journey begins in renowned chocolate factories across Switzerland, Belgium, and the UK, where skilled chocolatiers craft Easter eggs and festive treats with care and precision. Every item is made to meet the seasonal demand, with a strong focus on quality and consistency.

Once produced, the chocolates are packaged to preserve freshness and loaded into temperature-controlled containers—reefers at setpoint +16°C. These containers also feature humidity control systems to ensure each piece arrives in perfect condition.

From there, the reefers are transported by truck with underslung genset chassis to key ports such as Antwerp in Belgium or Felixstowe in the UK, then shipped across the globe via sea freight. Upon arrival, the chocolates are cleared through customs, sent to distribution centres, and delivered to retail stores and boutiques.

To extend shelf life and maintain quality, chocolates are stored in cool, dry conditions—away from heat, sunlight, and moisture—while airtight packaging helps lock in freshness until they're ready to be enjoyed.

This carefully managed supply chain ensures that Easter treats arrive on time, in perfect shape, and ready to contribute to family traditions and joyful memories.

The hidden joy of Easter eggs
Beyond chocolate, Easter eggs have taken on new life in pop culture. In video games, they are hidden features or secrets that reward curiosity. In movies and shows, they appear as inside jokes or subtle references—delighting fans who spot them.

Digital or edible, these small surprises spark wonder. They connect us to stories, traditions, and each other.
