15th anniversary of Kuehne + Nagel in Slovakia - New logistics centre in Bratislava

Kuehne + Nagel in Slovakia yesterday had two reasons for celebration: its 15th anniversary and the inauguration of a new logistics centre in Bratislava. The event was attended by numerous customers and business partners, national and local political representatives, as well as Klaus-Michael Kuehne, Executive Chairman of Kuehne + Nagel International AG.

After the political changes in Eastern Europe, Kuehne + Nagel founded a national company in Bratislava on May 1, 1991, which meanwhile ranks among the market leaders in Slovakia in all of its core business fields (sea and airfreight, overland, contract logistics). The company successfully operates as an interface between national firms and the international markets.

“By entering the Slovak market at a very early stage, and thanks to our good performance, we have succeeded in continually expanding our service offering and business volumes,” said Executive Chairman Klaus-Michael Kuehne, and expressed his confidence as regards the continuation of Kuehne + Nagel’s strong performance in the Slovak Republic.

Due to the growing demand for integrated and value-creating logistics services, Kuehne + Nagel was faced with the requirement for a larger logistics centre. The new multifunctional terminal, ideally located in proximity to Bratislava airport, features approximately 6,000 sqm of warehousing and handling space, and 7,500 pallet positions. The facility fully complies with current environmental and security standards.

“Our new logistics terminal caters to the provision of integrated logistics services and to growing business volumes,” commented Pavol Jelenek, Managing Director for Kuehne + Nagel’s national company in Slovakia. “By bundling resources at this terminal, we can accelerate workflow processes and generate synergies. In addition, the geographic location allows for fast and efficient distribution to all economic centres across Europe.”
