In an ambitious move to paint industry insight with strokes of supply chain storytelling, Kuehne+Nagel released its first-ever original documentary series this year: Where Next.  

Produced with cinematic scope that is both entertaining and educational, Where Next takes its audience into the indispensable world of semiconductors. Those tiny components forming the backbone of modern life. Their supply chains reveal a fragility and complexity of our deeply interconnected systems. 

But unlike most storylines about the semicon industry, this documentary shows what the industry offers in ways of collaborative and design thinking, ideas of resilience, and what kind of innovation is testing the integration of our systems where supply chains play a critical role.

The series recently won Gold and Silver in four categories at Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards international film festival: Gold in Web Documentaries, Silver in Science/Technology/Innovation, Branded Documentaries, and Trailers & Teasers.

Today, Kuehne+Nagel, a global logistics company, announced the opening of a new facility in El Paso, Texas. The new, larger site is 363,000 sq. ft. in size and represents the consolidation of four warehouses from across the border into one. As global companies make investments across Mexico due to the growing trend of nearshoring, Kuehne+Nagel is establishing this site to support customers as they seek to redesign their supply chain processes.

Ideally situated in El Paso, Texas, the site will support the increased needs of customers in moving goods north and southbound over the border of Mexico and United States. The warehouse features enhanced security, modern offices, 54 dock doors, front and rear cross-dock capability, 125 truck yard spaces, as well as added vertical racked storage locations.

By consolidating four warehouses under one roof, the company will drive efficiencies for Kuehne+Nagel customers by allowing the control of all trailer traffic in one site. This move also allows the company to reduce the amount of time a truck is received and offloaded with additional dock availability. The building offers customers improved layout and cargo flow. Additionally, the site offers improved interaction for customers by housing all customer care teams in one location and offering new meeting room facilities.

Alumichem, a leading Nordic water treatment solutions company, has appointed Kuehne+Nagel as a logistics partner in Ghana for the second consecutive year. The partnership aims to deliver clean drinking water to communities in Ghana.

To maximise the efficiency of the delivery of water treatment chemicals to the country, Alumichen has selected Kuehne+Nagel to provide optimised logistics solutions, including sea logistics solutions for the transport of the chemical components between Denmark and Ghana and domestic road logistics solutions for the deliveries to Ghana Water Company.  

Denmark-based Alumichem has been working with Ghana Water Company, a state utility water producer, to improve the efficiency of the water treatment processes and provide advanced water treatment technologies, including aluminum-based coagulants and flocculants, which are highly effective in removing impurities and contaminants from water sources.  

So far Kuehne+Nagel has handled over 194 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of water treatment chemicals on behalf of Alumichem.

Like many countries in the region, Ghana suffers from water scarcity and poor water quality, which affect the health and well-being of local communities. Often, unclean wastewater is discharged directly into land or rivers, affecting the drinking water supply. Ghana Water Company currently operates 88 urban water supply systems throughout the country, that produce on average 870,000 cubic meters of water per day. The demand, however, is estimated at almost 1,132 million cubic meters of water per day.
