Kuehne+Nagel has received its first ESG Recognition from DNV, an independent global certification body. DNV introduced the recognition in 2025 to acknowledge companies with a structured and holistic approach to Environmental, Social and Governance management.  

The recognition reflects that Kuehne+Nagel has certified management systems in place across environmental, social and governance topics under one ESG framework. These systems are evaluated using internationally recognised best practice standards, including those developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), applied and certified by DNV. This provides a structured approach for a company to continually manage and improve its performance across the dimensions.  

For Ricardo Bernasconi, Global Head of QSHE at Kuehne+Nagel, the recognition strengthens credibility and trust with customers, partners and other stakeholders. Kuehne+Nagel’s journey in China began in 1979 with a representative office in Beijing. In 2004, the company was granted legal status to operate independently as a wholly Swiss-owned enterprise. Today, it spans 35 locations across the country and employs over 3,500 logistics professionals. Through strategic positioning and expanding service capabilities, the company continues to strengthen its role as a trusted partner in China’s industrial transformation.

First certified in 2014, the company has since undergone three full attestations, including the most recent assessment completed in 2024 as part of the regular five-year renewal cycle. This latest certification reaffirms over a decade of consistent compliance, security and risk management.

Kuehne+Nagel in the United Arab Emirates has received certification from the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), authorising the storage and possession of raw pharmaceutical materials at its facility in Dubai South. This complements the company’s existing licence to store medical products.

“This certification marks a significant milestone in strengthening Kuehne+Nagel’s healthcare and life sciences supply chain offering. It benefits customers across all stages of the production cycle in the healthcare industry,” said Leon Diradourian, GCC Cluster Managing Director at Kuehne+Nagel.

Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) is the UAE’s independent regulatory authority overseeing the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. As part of the licensing process, Kuehne+Nagel’s appointed pharmacist, Safa Alkhayat, underwent a formal assessment and was subsequently licensed to handle raw materials in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. This individual certification formed the basis for Kuehne+Nagel’s authorisation by the Ministry of Health to store pharmaceutical starting materials, including excipients and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

Kuehne+Nagel in the UAE operates a 42,000 sqm fulfilment facility, including 25,500 sqm of temperature-controlled space dedicated to healthcare products. The site features cold chambers (2–8°C) and restricted-access chambers compliant with GxP standards, encompassing Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Distribution Practice (GDP), and Good Storage Practice (GSP), supported by rigorous security protocols.

Kuehne+Nagel wins the Responsible AI Impact Award, a global recognition that celebrates organisations leading the way in ethical, human-centred artificial intelligence.

In the logistics sector, Kuehne+Nagel is a frontrunner in AI, leading the way and creating value for customers. Several AI initiatives are already live for customers' benefit. 

"For example, we are using tailor-made generative AI algorithms to detect and remove duplicates from customer master data. With gen AI, we have significantly decreased the time needed to clean up the data, and at the same time accuracy has gone up to more than 90%," Sundberg added. "AI is helping us to automate almost real-time processing of expense reports internally. Also, we are using AI to predict estimated time of arrival to offer a better customer experience. Not to forget our efforts to deploy AI into our pricing models and customer service systems."

With this AEO certification, companies can have peace of mind knowing that our operations adhere to the stringent supply chain security standards set by Japan Customs. With simplified customs procedures and fewer interventions, their shipments traverse the international trade network swiftly and securely.

Earning this certification was no small feat. It involved an extensive process spanning 2 to 2.5 years. This journey included numerous presentations, engagements with customs officials, multiple rounds of audits, and comprehensive assessments conducted across all our offices.

Twenty notable individuals representing 10 organisations were recognised for their excellent achievements in the logistics sector, with Kuehne+Nagel Korea being one of the proud achievers. The event, attended by nearly 170 industry professionals, witnessed the recipients receiving merit plaques and certificates of commendation for their outstanding achievements.

Notable guests included representatives from key port authorities such as the Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority, Ulsan Port Authority, Busan Port Authority, and experts from the Korea Marine and Oceanographic Development Institute (KORDI).

The Sustainable Engine Alliance is a partnership aimed at setting new industry standards for low-carbon aircraft engine supply chains. Since its inception in April 2023, the alliance has collaborated on projects to increase transparency of emissions data in the supply chain – and the deployment of Sustainable Aviation Fuel.

VinLog Powered by Kuehne+Nagel proudly receives the esteemed ‘Green Logistics Supply Chain Initiative Award’, a category of the Drinks Business Green Awards 2023.

The Drinks Business presented this award to the VinLog team in recognition of its efforts in significantly reducing its impact on the environment by electrifying its fleet of trucks in 2023.
