Marcus Claesson, a Swedish national born in 1971, brings over 25 years of experience in international IT leadership roles. Since 2019, he has served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at DAX-listed Daimler Truck AG in Stuttgart, Germany. Prior to that, he was responsible for IT Commercial Vehicles at Daimler AG, also in Stuttgart. In 2007, Claesson joined Electrolux in Stockholm, Sweden. From 2010 to 2016, he held the role of CIO of Electrolux AB and CEO of Electrolux IT Solutions AB. From 1997 to 2007, he worked at Linde AG in Munich and Wiesbaden, Germany. Claesson has a degree in Computer Science from University of Borås, Sweden.

Shirley Sharma Paterson, an American citizen, joins Kuehne+Nagel with over 25 years of global experience in the supply chain industry. She has held several senior leadership roles, most recently serving as the Head of Schenker’s Flagship Partner Customer Engagement Program and Senior Vice President, Global Vertical Market Technology at DB Schenker.

With nearly two decades of experience in the logistics industry Leon Diradourian is well positioned to drive growth and development across the region. He will be based at Kuehne+Nagel’s cluster headquarters in Dubai.

Since joining Kuehne+Nagel Canada as a Sales Executive in 2010, Leon has held a number of senior leadership roles, including Regional Sales Director, Eastern Canada; Regional Vice President, Eastern Canada; and Vice President, Sea Logistics, Canada.

Most recently, he served as Vice President, Strategic Customs Development, where he was instrumental in leading the integration of Farrow, a Canada-based customs brokerage recently acquired by Kuehne+Nagel.

With 25 years of dedicated experience in the supply chain and logistics industry, Yutaka Matsuyoshi brings a wide range of expertise to his new role. His career spans multiple regions, including Japan, the UK, Hong Kong, China, and Switzerland where he has managed various logistics transformation projects for different industries. Before joining Kuehne+Nagel, he was responsible for Global Logistics at adidas for 9 years. In 2022, Yutaka took over the role as Global Head of Operations for the international Supply Chain in Kuehne+Nagel’s Group headquarters in Switzerland. Over the past two years, he has successfully led complex order management solutions projects with a strong focus on digitisation.

This will help us to further enhance our offerings with an emphasis on customer needs. In line with its Roadmap 2026, Japan is part of Kuehne+Nagel’s strategic growth markets. The Japan Development Program will focus on driving business growth among Japanese corporations, both within Japan and internationally. To strengthen its partnerships with Japanese customers, Kuehne+Nagel has appointed Mitsuhiro Inaba as Director Sales and Marketing Japan, effective August 1, and Kenzo Yamada as Director Air Logistics Japan, effective September 1. These appointments underscore Kuehne+Nagel’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Japanese market.

With over two decades of dedicated service to Kuehne+Nagel, Anish Kumar Jha brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. Anish began his journey with the company as a management trainee and quickly took on responsibilities as the Country Head for Air Logistics and General Manager for Northern & Eastern India. Most recently, he served as the Managing Director for Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar. In his new capacity, Anish will lead a team of over 850 industry professionals across 28 locations, driving Kuehne+Nagel's operations and strategic initiatives in the Indian market.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Anish Kumar Jha commented, "I am truly honoured to lead the Kuehne+Nagel teams in India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. Anish's appointment underscores Kuehne+Nagel's commitment to nurturing internal talent and expanding its presence in the Indian subcontinent. 

The Board of Directors of Kuehne+Nagel International AG has approved a new direct reporting of the country organisations. This change sets the course for further efficiency gains and profitable growth.

By simplifying responsibilities, the new structure will enable Kuehne+Nagel's business and functional units to sharpen their strategy in line with rapidly changing market developments and implement business decisions even faster. It will also ensure greater global consistency as well as customer proximity.

The historically-evolved regional structure will be discontinued and responsibilities integrated into Kuehne+Nagel's Group functions, as appropriate. The Cluster and National Managers will report directly into the Management Board of Kuehne+Nagel International AG.

Emilia Górska-Mytyk, a Polish national, born in 1980, began her career in 2016 with Kuehne+Nagel as Head of Business Development and later was promoted to Sales & Marketing Director in 2017. With over 20 years of logistics experience, she previously worked in multinational logistics corporations managing various teams. Her tasks included setting up operational structures and developing sales strategies. Her numerous successes in Kuehne+Nagel provided a solid foundation for her rapid promotion within the Polish organisation.

The Board of Directors of Kuehne+Nagel International AG appoints Michael Aldwell to its Management Board as of October 1, 2023. Aldwell will assume responsibility for the business unit Sea Logistics and succeed Horst Joachim (Otto) Schacht.

Otto Schacht (born in 1959), after 26 years of successful tenure at Kuehne+Nagel (since 2012 on the Management Board), will in the future perform advisory tasks for the Kuehne+Nagel Group with a focus on Sea Logistics. He will continue to maintain long-standing relationships with shipping lines and support the Group’s sustainability programs.

Michael Aldwell, a New Zealand national, born in 1984, began his career in 2008 with Kuehne+Nagel in Auckland, New Zealand. He has international leadership experience in Asia Pacific, the Middle East and the Americas, most recently as Head of the Northeast region of the USA in Jersey City, New Jersey. Since January 2023, he has been based in Schindellegi, Switzerland, responsible for Sea Logistics products, sales, and marketing worldwide. Michael Aldwell holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Management degree from Lincoln University, New Zealand, and is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, California.

Kuehne+Nagel today announced two management changes in its Middle East and Africa region: Damian Raczynski has been appointed National Cluster Manager for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman as of May 2023, while Bert Bloem has been in his new role as National Manager of South Africa effective April 2023. In their new role, Damian and Bert will report directly to Lee I’Ons, Regional Manager, Middle East and Africa and oversee the company’s operations in their respective countries. 

Damian joined Kuehne+Nagel in 2010 as National Contract Logistics Operations Manager in Bucharest, Romania, and moved to Dubai as the National Contract Logistics Manager for the UAE in 2014. Since 2019, he has been holding the position of Regional Contract Logistics Manager, Middle East and Africa. 

Damian said: "After nearly a decade, I'm excited to be back in the national office in Dubai, which has been my home for so long. Our shared goal is to focus on our Roadmap 2026 and Vision 2030. As the markets in the UAE and Oman continue to expand, I'm eager to collaborate with our talented team to create an exceptional Kuehne+Nagel Experience for both our employees and customers." 

Bert has more than 28 years of experience within the logistics industry. Since 2009, he has been working for Kuehne+Nagel South Africa as the National Air Logistics Manager. In his capacity, he played a key role in driving substantial market expansion and leading operational transformation within the company's Air Logistics services. 

Bert said: “I’m excited for this new chapter. South Africa remains one of the gateways for logistics into Africa. As a pivotal hub connecting global markets to the vast opportunities that the African continent has to offer, at Kuehne+Nagel South Africa, we will continue providing sustainable and innovative solutions to our customers.”

From January 2023, Marc Pfeffer will join the Management Board in his capacity as Group General Counsel and will remain responsible as Corporate Secretary of its Board of Directors.

Marc Pfeffer (born 1971, a German and Swiss citizen) started at Kuehne+Nagel as Group General Counsel in 2014 and has since been heading worldwide the Legal department with responsibility for Group Legal, including Trade Control and Data Protection. The independently managed Compliance department is also under his responsiblity. From mid-2019, Marc Pfeffer assumed additional responsibility as Corporate Secretary of the Board of Directors of Kuehne+Nagel International AG.

Before joining Kuehne+Nagel, Marc Pfeffer held senior positions such as General Counsel at DB Netz AG (Frankfurt, Germany) and at OC Oerlikon Corporation AG (Pfäffikon, Switzerland). He studied law at the University of Saarland, Saarbrücken, Germany and received his doctorate in antitrust law with honours.

Lothar Harings, member of the Management Board and CHRO at Kuehne+Nagel International AG, will end his long career at the Group and retire at his own request upon reaching the age of 63 on June 30, 2023.                                            

As part of a forward-looking succession plan, Kuehne+Nagel has succeeded in recruiting Sarah Kreienbühl (born 1970, Swiss and French citizenships) as a highly qualified leader. Starting April 1, 2023, she will become a member of the Management Board at Kuehne+Nagel and be responsible for global human resources management, as well as for sustainability, an area of top strategic importance to the company.

Sarah Kreienbühl holds many years of management experience at executive level in various industries; since 2018 as a member of the General Management at Migros, Switzerland’s largest private employer with around 100,000 employees.

A Singaporean, Siew Loong brings more than twenty years of professional experience in the logistics industry having served in multiple leadership roles in Asia.

Most recently as Kuehne+Nagel’s regional co-head for Asia Pacific, he was responsible for Greater China and the successful acquisition of Apex International. Prior to that, he served as the company’s regional manager for North Asia Pacific between 2015 – 2019.

Siew Loong began his career as a management trainee at NOL Group where he held several key managerial positions, including regional president of the group’s North Asian liner and logistics sector. Before joining Kuehne+Nagel in 2015, he served as Global Chief Financial Officer at APL Logistics.

“These are exciting but also challenging times for the industry in a rapidly evolving Asia Pacific region,” said Siew Loong. “I look forward to working with our talented team of experts to deliver a seamless logistics experience for our customers, helping them to fulfil their commitments and realising their business objectives.”

Siew Loong holds a Master in Social Science (Applied Economics) degree and an EMBA diploma from the China Europe International Business School. 

Dianna brings extensive experience and knowledge to Kuehne+Nagel. She has held several leadership roles at the Swiss-based Group, most recently as Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Kuehne+Nagel Canada.  Before this, she served as the Managing Director of Nacora and GFH Canada (owned subsidiaries of Kuehne+Nagel). She transitioned to lead the insurance business for the North America region and was an integral part of the North America Leadership Team.

Dianna has received awards such as the 2020 Insurance Business Canada Elite Women and more. She holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Waterloo and an Honours Chartered Insurance Professional designation (CIP) from the Insurance Institute of Canada. Dianna currently serves as the Executive Co-Sponsor and Board Member of the Canadian Women in Logistics Leadership (WILL) chapter.

Hansjörg Rodi, born in 1966, has held management positions at Kuehne+Nagel since 2016, most recently as the head of the European region with almost 44,000 employees. He has been active in the logistics industry for over 25 years in various management positions. Hansjörg Rodi studied economics and earned his doctorate at the Westphalian University in Münster, Germany.

With CHF 3.7 billion in net turnover in 2021 and around 9,700 employees, Kuehne+Nagel’s business unit Road Logistics is one of the world's leading providers of ground transportation. Kuehne+Nagel customers are offered maximum flexibility and service quality for their general cargo, full truckload (FTL) or part truckload (LTL) shipments. In 2021, the unit handled 24.4 million shipments.

Jens Drewes (born 1969) has been appointed to succeed Hansjörg Rodi in Europe. Jens Drewes has held management positions at Kuehne+Nagel in Asia since 1997, and has been responsible for the Asia Pacific region since 2013.

The Board of Directors of Kuehne + Nagel International AG today initiated top management changes. Effective August 1, 2022, Stefan Paul will assume the position of CEO of Kuehne + Nagel International AG. At the same time, the current CEO, Dr. Detlef Trefzger, will step down for private reasons. It is planned to appoint Dr. Trefzger to the Board of Directors of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, with the term following completion of his successful nine-year leadership.

Stefan Paul (born 1969) is a German citizen and has been a member of the Kuehne + Nagel Management Board since 2013, currently responsible for Road Logistics and Sales. He started his career at Kuehne + Nagel in 1990. Between 1997 and 2013, he held management positions at various logistics companies in Germany and the UK, among others. In 2013, Stefan Paul returned to Kuehne + Nagel, where he assumed responsibility for all Road Logistics activities and was able to expand and globalise the business while increasing profitability. Later, he also took over the responsibilities for global sales in the management team.

As one of the world's leading logistics companies, Kuehne+Nagel has opened a new IT competence centre in Portugal. Kuehne+Nagel’s Porto IT Hub contributes significantly to Kuehne+Nagel’s goal of accelerating digital technologies for its global customers. Kuehne+Nagel plans to hire more than 200 highly skilled software engineers in Porto by mid-2022. Cédric Dulong brings with him over 20 years of leadership experience and knowledge of the logistics industry.

Most recently, Cédric was Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Kuehne+Nagel Asia Pacific. Before this role, he ascended through a series of positions in general management, operations and for the last 10 years in business development. He started with Kuehne+Nagel in Japan and spent his last 25 years in Asia.

“Japan is one of our key focus markets in Asia Pacific. I’m confident that Cédric’s in-depth knowledge of the industry and rich Asia experience will lead Kuehne+Nagel Japan in its next phase of growth and bring the company to greater heights,” said Jens Drewes, President of Kuehne+Nagel Asia Pacific.

• Students will be granted an internationally recognised certificate

Kuehne+Nagel, together with the Russian-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK), has developed a dual education programme specifically for 3PL requirements. The goal of the programme is to expand theoretical knowledge of students at the Moscow College of Automobile Transport No. 9. The students will gain valuable hands-on experience in a large corporation and will be granted an internationally recognised certificate issued by the AHK.

Dual education is a widely used method in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and is very popular among young people who, for a number of reasons, are not able to pursue higher education, but nonetheless wish to further realise themselves in business. Dual education helps integrate academic study and work at the corporation and paves the way for immediate participation in business processes. Upon graduation, the students can continue to work and develop within the organization.

Kuehne+Nagel’s project in Russia differs for similar initiatives primarily because it provides training for office workers, and not technical or warehouse workers. Based on educational and professional standards established in the Russian Federation and Germany, the programme runs for one year and a half without interruption. During this time, programme participants enhance their professional skills and gain an understanding of Kuehne+Nagel’s culture, its strategy and operations in detail.
