World Sailing, the global governing body for the sport of sailing, welcomes Kuehne+Nagel as Global Logistics Partner in an agreement lasting an initial three years. Under the agreement Kuehne+Nagel becomes the preferred logistics partner for World Sailing’s Member National Authorities (MNAs) and all World Sailing authorised events. Leveraging its global network and expertise in logistics, Kuehne+Nagel handles the transportation of sailing equipment, boats, and other essential resources.

In addition, Kuehne+Nagel supports World Sailing’s Sustainability Agenda 2030 goals by providing visibility and full carbon emissions reporting through the myKN platform. World Sailing, its partners, MNAs, class associations and sailors can also opt for alternative fuel solutions to reduce their carbon emissions.

Leading exhibition organiser Clarion Events enters long-term partnership with Kuehne+Nagel from January 2024.
Kuehne+Nagel will handle the logistics for all Clarion events around the world.

Market-leading and UK-based global event organiser Clarion Events has selected Kuehne+Nagel as their Official Global Logistics Partner from January 2024 on a long-term contract. The purpose-led partnership will focus on reducing the carbon footprint of exhibitions and setting new standards for the events industry.

Clarion Events organises over two hundred exhibitions around the world, with around one million people visiting its events each year. Kuehne+Nagel will be the exclusive onsite handling provider for those events, which includes storage, lifting services, customs support, traffic management and international freight forwarding. In the US, where the exhibition model differs, Kuehne+Nagel will act as the Official International Freight Forwarder and Customs Broker to enable events like Powergen, Hydrovision and DistribuTech.

Préparation et expédition de près de 6 millions de colis par an

Kuehne+Nagel, l’un des leaders du transport et de la logistique, a été choisi par l’enseigne Cultura pour gérer son site logistique de Moissy Cramayel en Seine-et-Marne (77). L’entrepôt de 48 000 m2 emploie 65 collaborateurs et couvre les expéditions pour l’intégralité des produits Cultura, hors livres, à destination des 97 magasins de l’enseigne.

Dans un contexte de croissance et de fortes saisonnalités, Cultura propose une grande variété de produits culturels, ce qui rend la gestion logistique particulièrement complexe. Pour répondre aux enjeux liés à la sécurisation des process, Kuehne+Nagel développe une offre de service orientée vers des process digitalisés avec des smartphones, dont les scénarios sont développés en mode graphique et vocalisés par ses propres équipes. Ces process sont complétés par des gants connectés pour scanner les EAN, associés aux codes détrompeurs couleur permettant ainsi une meilleure ergonomie de prélèvement.

Par ailleurs, Kuehne+Nagel alimentera une base de données photos pour tous les nouveaux articles, à l’aide d’un système de dimensionnement et de pesage, qui intégrera les données article. Ces photos seront affichées sur les smartphones des opérateurs, selon l’unité de préparation.

« Nous nous appuyons sur notre expertise de la suite logicielle Infolog de GENERIX, et de l’outil Velocity de WIIO, déjà déployés sur 30 autres sites en France, pour mettre en œuvre ces nouveaux process, complétés par notre propre BI pour le pilotage des opérations », explique Laurent Kraffmuller, Directeur Général Logistique Contractuelle, Kuehne+Nagel France.

Kuehne+Nagel paves the way for sustainable delivery solutions in Thailand with Lotus’s

First retailer in Thailand with a fully-electric fleet for bakery delivery
Further plans to expand to 26 regional routes

One of Thailand’s leading supermarket retailers, Lotus’s, has partnered with logistics provider Kuehne+Nagel Thailand to become the first supermarket retailer in the country to use electric vehicles (EVs) in their distribution operations for bakery delivery. Through this partnership, the two companies will mark a first for the retail industry in Thailand, and pave the way towards greater sustainability for the nation.

The first stage of the bakery distributions using EVs has been rolled out recently in Bangkok, with further plans to increase the number of vehicles and cities to 5 Bangkok routes and 21 regional routes in the coming months. Prior, Lotus’s distributions used standard diesel vans. The replacement of these vans with EVs is expected to result in a reduction of 24.7 tonnes of CO2 emissions per truck each year, greatly reducing the company’s overall carbon footprint.

Kuehne+Nagel and adidas have entered into a long-term strategic partnership for a highly automated, omni-channel 130,000 sqm dedicated fulfilment centre in Mantova, Italy. It is to be the largest CO2-neutral fulfilment centre in Kuehne+Nagel’s global history.

Launching in 2024, the fulfilment centre will create around 700 new jobs to supply adidas stores, retail shops, wholesalers and e-commerce customers in 19 countries throughout Southern and Eastern Europe. Through a combination of cutting edge technologies, an experienced management team and well-trained warehouse workers, the centre is set to process no fewer than 18,000 packages per hour. Its operational model provides the exceptional flexibility required to handle adidas’ wildly fluctuating volumes from its various B2B, B2C and Click&Collect channels, along with regular peaks in seasonal demand.

The fulfilment centre not only meets adidas’ highest customer standards in agility and delivery speed but also fulfils its requirements for sustainable CO2-neutral operations.

Swarovski, the crystal manufacturer and jewelry brand, partners with Kuehne+Nagel for an EMEA fulfilment and distribution centre in Tessenderlo, Belgium. The highly automated distribution centre improves lead times to the market, consisting of Swarovski stores, retailers as well as direct-to-consumer e-commerce.

Next to managing Swarovski’s entire B2B and B2C supply chain, including quality control management and reverse logistics, Kuehne+Nagel also handles value-added services in terms of outbound packaging for which a delicate human touch remains essential. This includes refined gift wrapping and customized gift cards typical for Swarovski’s luxury customer experience.

The hub is part of a 70.000m² fulfilment centre that is fully operated by Kuehne+Nagel. For Swarovski, the company invested a fully automated shuttle technology and established a central end-to-end transportation management service that covers inbound flows, distribution to the stores and B2C delivery flows. The scope of the operations leads to the creation of 100 jobs in the area in the course of 2022.

Kuehne + Nagel to manage aftermarket spare parts logistics for JCB Construction Equipment

Kuehne + Nagel announced a new multi-year contract with JCB, the world’s largest privately-owned manufacturer of construction, agriculture and defense equipment, to manage a new distribution center from a 256,000 square-foot facility in Miami, Florida. The Kuehne + Nagel team designed an aftermarket parts logistics solution to increase service level of inventory, improve equipment uptime, and reduce delivery lead-time of spare parts to JCB dealers.

The JCB logistics center in Miami will service JCB dealers in the eastern United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The Kuehne + Nagel team will manage inbound deliveries from JCB and its external vendors, storage and inventory management of 30,000 parts, and the picking of goods according to JCB customer shipment schedules. For complete visibility, transparency, and service improvement of all flows, Kuehne + Nagel’s CIEL warehouse management system will be tailored with RF processes and full EDI data integration. The WMS allows for real time order management and sets the environment for future innovations such as voice picking. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel’s Lean management system, KNPS, will be utilized to drive year on year savings by monitoring product flows and continuously optimizing processes.

Dieser Bereich soll bereits im zweiten Quartal 2018 den Betrieb aufnehmen. Der Neubau für den Unternehmensbereich Mobility Solutions verfügt nach Fertigstellung über eine Nutzfläche ca. 22.000 m². Die bisherigen sechs Standorte, die Bosch in Tamm konsolidiert, werden nacheinander verlagert, sodass der Hochlauf stufenweise bis Ende 2019 erfolgen wird. Von Tamm aus werden die weltweite Belieferung von Automotive-Kunden, die Versorgung von Bosch-Werken in Deutschland und die Packstoffversorgung für eines der Werke erfolgen. Zusätzlich übernimmt das Lager Crossdock-Funktionen für die Distribution in Deutschland und europaweit. In den beiden Hallen in Tamm entstehen ca. 180 neue Arbeitsplätze.

Kuehne + Nagel establishes global supply chain quality control solution for JD.com

JD.com procures goods from global brands to support the growing demand from Chinese consumers for overseas products. Previously, goods were shipped directly from the brand manufacturers and inspected at destination warehouses in mainland China, but often products arrive damaged, expired or in incorrect quantities. To address these challenges, Kuehne + Nagel collaborated with JD.com to design a ‘Transfer Centre’ approach – a global supply chain solution which incorporates quality control checks at the consolidation warehouse at origin, prior to shipment to China.

The Transfer Centre covers various activities, including rigorous cargo inspection, inventory count and pallet packaging check, all supported by state-of-the-art information systems integrated with JD.com’s warehouse management system. SKU level capture of inventory at origin gives JD.com greater end-to-end control over supply chain inventory. The Transfer Centre at origin setup also allowed JD.com to maintain closer relationships with brands, benefiting JD.com’s consumers with improved product availability and guaranteed quality.

Federal-Mogul Motorparts to offer improved service solutions to customers for aftermarket parts through new distribution facility and warehousing and distribution contract with Kuehne + Nagel

Federal-Mogul Motorparts, a division of Federal-Mogul LLC, has agreed to a multi-year contract with Kuehne + Nagel to operate its new automotive replacement parts distribution center near Budapest, Hungary. The opening ceremony took place in the presence of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Located in Páty, 22 kilometers west of Budapest, the state-of-the art warehouse has a 23,000 sqm storage area and offers a full range of inventories for its target markets with well-known brands like as Ferodo^®, Jurid^®, Champion^®, MOOG^®, Payen^®, Goetze^® and BERU^®*. The facility will employ more than 160 people and has the potential to be expanded by at least 33 percent to support volume growth or changing trading profiles.

This new built-to-suit logistics hub is about to be fully operational, following a successful test run. The logistics complex will serve customers in Southern, Eastern and Central Europe in conjunction with the company’s new distribution center in Willebroek, Belgium; the Páty facility will also serve customers in Africa and other markets adjacent to the EU. This investment reflects Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ ongoing strategy to optimize the performance of its supply chain and provide the world-class delivery performance its customers expect.

Kuehne + Nagel Ghana to provide emergency and relief logistics for major social enterprise

Within the short time frame of one month, Kuehne + Nagel will ship the significant amount of mosquito nets from Denmark to Ghana, where they will be distributed to local health centres as part of a national campaign against malaria. Due to the geopolitical environment in the region, emergency and relief logistics is a major focus of Kuehne + Nagel Middle East and Africa. The cooperation with the IDA Foundation showcases the company’s extensive experience to provide freight forwarding and tailor-made logistics services for a broad range of customers and industries.

The expanded Kuehne + Nagel warehouse in Geel offers temperature controlled zones (15°c to 25°c) with cold storage (2°C up to 8°C) and freeze storage (-25°C up to -15°C) capabilities. Additionally, a special fire protection storage zone allows Sanofi to safely store their raw materials which are classified as flammable. For raw material sample taking a pressurized sample booth is installed.

The facility in Geel is part of the global KN PharmaChain network, a multi-modal logistics solution for temperature-controlled door-to-door transportation which allows accurate traceability of the deliveries and intensive, proactive risk management.

The new contract leverages a sophisticated IT solution to address VWED’s requirements for improved efficiency of operations. The solution includes the use of dynamic planning to ensure cost optimisation while managing multi-leg journeys, line hauls and reverse movement. To provide more accurate real-time tracking of truck movements, Kuehne + Nagel leveraged China’s WeChat technology: Drivers use a mobile phone to scan a custom QR code to indicate a change in shipment status, automatically triggering an update in the order management system. Utilising the WeChat platform avoids the need to install additional apps or set-up additional hardware, allowing sub-contracted truckers to also utilise the same system. Kuehne + Nagel’s contract logistics team engineered a multi-year innovative production logistics operations plan utilizing a modern logistics center that will include vision picking smart glasses and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). Comprehensive services will include goods receiving, inventory management and just-in-time picking and sequencing for delivery to the car makers’ assembly line and production facility.

For the implementation, Kuehne + Nagel is utilizing its successful customer transition and integration model, which includes multiple disciplinary project management and dedicated resources from the logistics provider’s national, regional and corporate organizations. Nestlé chooses Kuehne + Nagel Netherlands as its logistics partner

As of 2018, all Nestlé - Netherlands’ chocolate, coffee and culinary products as well as pet and baby foods will be warehoused in the new Kuehne + Nagel distribution centre in the Dutch town of Veghel, purpose-built for this new partnership. Kuehne + Nagel will be responsible for all logistics flows of Nestlé Netherlands and will be offering all logistics services required by the customers of the food manufacturer, including warehousing and distribution.

Kuehne + Nagel is already supplying all consumer internet orders for Nestlé’s brands Nespresso, NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto and Special-T. For over 15 years the logistics services provider has also been cooperating closely with the division Nestlé International Travel Retail (NITR). For the International Travel Retail concept, Kuehne + Nagel supplies goods from its Veghel location to all duty-free destinations around the world, such as airports and cruise ships.

Nestlé aims to have zero environmental operational impact by 2030. Kuehne + Nagel continues to expand its services for Toys“R”Us in mainland China

The newly opened warehouse consolidates products from both local and overseas suppliers distributing to 45 stores in North China. Each year, almost half a million products will be handled by the North China distribution centre. Other services offered from the Beijing based distribution centre include inventory control, fulfilment, and management of returns. All activities from the company’s previous distribution centre in Tianjin were transferred into this new warehouse.

Kuehne + Nagel has worked with Toys“R”Us since 2015, previously managing distribution in East, West and South China. With this new contract in North China, Kuehne + Nagel will now manage the national distribution for all of Toys“R”Us 130 retail stores across China.

Kuehne Nagel’s approach to Sappi’s complex logistics operations is a fully integrated solution to coordinate and automate tasks that so far have been executed manually, offering a reliable coordination between orders and shipment execution. Candy Group and Kuehne + Nagel can look back on eight years of successful cooperation. Since more than a year, Alibaba.com’s paid members in China have been able to instantly obtain quotations, book pickup and destination delivery services for airfreight consignments via Kuehne + Nagel’s digital solution KN FreightNet on Alibaba.com. The e-commerce relationship has already been extended to include less-than-container-load (LCL) solutions as well. Now, the strategic partnership will draw closer cooperation between the e-commerce giant and Kuehne + Nagel with intent to expand the scope of logistics services on offer in the near future to cover the various modes of transportation (air, sea, rail, overland) and contract logistics outside China.

Bosch Thermotechnology is a leading international manufacturer of heating products and water heaters sold under the brand names Junkers, Bosch and Buderus. The location acts as Poland Distribution Center for finished goods and spare parts. Synergies within the existing Kuehne + Nagel logistics campus in Piotrków will allow to better manage the high volatility of activities in the warehouse due to the seasonality of product demands of Bosch Thermotechnology. Kuehne + Nagel supports Carcano Antonio to increase operational efficiency

In its two production plants in Delebio and Mandello, Carcano Antonio applies a fully integrated and traceable production process, from the raw material to the finished products. In order to simplify the current logistics model and to increase operational efficiency, Kuehne + Nagel has implemented a standardised operational approach across Carcano’s entire logistics operations.

Within the partnership, the logistics provider is responsible for the set-up and storage of coils coming from the manufacturing sites, picking and shipment to the customers, including domestic and international transport. 30 workers previously employed at Carcano’s warehouses, are transferred to the in-house logistics operations carried out by Kuehne + Nagel in order to ensure a seamless transition of processes.

In addition, Kuehne + Nagel supports the design of the layout and set-up of Carcano’s new logistics centre in Andalo which is currently being built.

Kuehne + Nagel appointed logistics partner for Michelin in Poland

In the scope of the local contract Kuehne + Nagel will be responsible for the management of warehousing activities in Poland. Operations will start on November 16, 2016 in the Michelin owned Logistics Centre in the Warsaw area. Kuehne + Nagel will be responsible for the facility maintenance, administrative operations and the handling services. The activities range from receipt of Michelin products from manufacture, quality control, stock management to final order picking. The site acts as Distribution Centre delivering products to Michelin`s customers in Poland and other countries. Kuehne + Nagel will implement a new warehouse management system provided by Michelin.

Belcorp and Kuehne + Nagel enter into supply chain management partnership

In scope of the contract, Kuehne + Nagel handles shipment order management, door-to-door visibility, monitoring, tracking and exception management for Belcorp through a team of integrated logistics experts in Bogotá, Colombia. The solution provided by Kuehne + Nagel includes an electronic data interchange system (EDI) enabling seamless information exchange between the logistics provider and Belcorp’s financial department. Transportation services include all airfreight and seafreight operations from Europe, Asia and within the Americas.

Kuehne + Nagel continues to expand its services for BMW Group Aftersales Logistics

The distribution centre was inaugurated on October 11, 2016 in Wallersdorf, Germany, and forms part of the BMW Group’s Central Distribution Centre (CDC). This consists of the distribution centre and the warehouse in Wallersdorf, the spare parts warehouse in Bruckberg which is operated and managed by Kuehne + Nagel, and the “Dynamics Centre” in Dingolfing. From the CDC, the BMW Group supplies regional distribution centres around the world which in turn supply the local authorised repair shops. Kuehne + Nagel has been working on spare parts logistics for the BMW Group for over ten years.

In Wallersdorf Kuehne + Nagel will be responsible for physically receiving and administering incoming goods, pre-packaging, administering packaging materials and empties and also for loading goods onto shuttles for shipping out to all field warehouses, external workshops and sites within the CDC network. Over 215,000 packaged spare parts will leave the distribution centre on average every day. Go-live is planned for December 2016. Kuehne + Nagel will employ around 450 people at the 35,000-square-metre complex.

Kuehne + Nagel has been managing the warehouse logistics of paints and coatings for AkzoNobel since 2007. The products are stored and cross-docked in an area of more than
6.000 m2, including a specially designed dangerous goods space complying with all relevant hazardous material regulations.

OSRAM and LEDVANCE Brazil outsource logistics activities to Kuehne + Nagel

OSRAM and LEDVANCE are strengthening their global partnership with Kuehne + Nagel through a new assignment in Brazil following the existing cooperation in Argentina and China. Under a three year contract, Kuehne + Nagel signs responsible for the provision of warehousing services for OSRAM and LEDVANCE Brazil, including inbound and outbound operations as well as pick & pack of high sensitive products, such as lamps and luminaires. A 6,300 m2 Kuehne + Nagel logistics centre, located in Embu das Artes in the greater São Paulo area, was specifically designed to offer the necessary infrastructure to store sensitive lighting products with maximum efficiency and security.

The cooperation between the companies comes in a decisive moment: With effect from July 1, 2016, the current OSRAM Lamps business division is intended to become a legally independent organisation under the name LEDVANCE GmbH in order to suit the requirements caused by the breakthrough of the LED (light-emitting diode) technology. CNH Industrial selected Kuehne + Nagel after proposing an efficient logistics centre solution which will consolidate two of CNH Industrial’s separate business operations into one single distribution centre. Due to the complexity within the two operations, IT Systems will be deployed to greatly enhance transparency and monitoring of the operational performance.

The 2,550m2 non-bonded logistics centre in Fengxian, Shanghai, has been strategically positioned near transport links to support CNH Industrial’s domestic distribution requirements across China. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel is also looking after CNH Industrial’s customs needs.

Kuehne + Nagel has been chosen by Unilever for the storage and order fulfilment of its recently introduced tea-brewing machine launched under the premium brand of T.O by Lipton. The service scope includes warehousing and distribution services out of the fulfilment centre in Contern, Luxembourg, as well as a range of value added services. These services include customised packaging to maximise process efficiency and minimise waste. For order processing a pick-by-light system has been implemented to ensure fast processing times and real time visibility of order status. The distribution to the end consumers will be ensured through a flexible network of European parcel integrators that is being managed by Kuehne + Nagel in Luxembourg.

Under the agreement, Kuehne + Nagel will handle the logistics for Corning’s customers out of a new distribution center in Shanghai, located in the Yangshan Free Trade Port Area. Kuehne + Nagel services will include the consolidation of intercontinental seafreight shipments from Corning Life Sciences` global locations, warehousing, pick and pack, and distribution of products for the Asia-Pacific market.
